Whiskey & Kona

Whiskey & Kona

Whiskey & Kona

You forge ahead; I’ll watch for stragglers.

Whiskey was raised as a hunting dog, but now he is an admirer of trees and a practitioner of stillness. He will sit looking at and listening to his favorite tree for so long that neighbors and passersby have mistaken him for a statue of a dog.

Kona is mover, an exuberant soul who loves walking, pouncing around with her friends, and chasing butterflies. But she also likes to keep track of the pack. If anyone falls behind during a walk, she stops and waits and until everybody is back together again. It’s a habit leftover from her early training as a service animal.

Both are enthusiastic about telegraphing happiness. Whiskey whips his tail back and forth like an antenna in a windstorm; you don’t want to be standing too close in case its whacks you. Kona has a whole-body approach to expressing joy. Her wag starts at the tail, travels to her hips, then her belly, and finally to her shoulders, head and ears until she falls over onto the ground exhausted by glee.
